Are All Flooring Service Companies the Same?
Not all flooring services are completed in the same way. For example, a “big-box” store sells flooring but typically does not employ the installer they send to your home. They use contractors who meet their requirements, and generally, a store like this will provide a degree of protection on the quality of work that is performed. That said, there is a degree of separation that can introduce complications should the installation of your flooring be less than acceptable.
A big store may not disclose the relationship they have with the contractor. This could be the financial relationship or even the continuity of the contractors labor and supervisors. The consumer just will not have access to this information, as it is generally “behind the firewall” of the store. In short, a salesperson at a “big-box” store will have little access or knowledge about who will be providing the flooring services you need to complete your project—and the promises they make are about as solid as shaving creme.
Craigslist or Friend of a Friend Flooring Installers
Every consumer wants the best deal they can get. The same is true for businesses. They want to get product at wholesale prices that permit them to make a good profit and keep their customers happy. Most consumers, if they have lived long enough, would agree with the expression, “You get what you pay for.” It is a hard truth to experience when an amazing deal turns out to be a costly mistake. “Uncle Jim,” or your neighbor’s son-in-law who installs flooring as a side gig are perfect examples of good ideas gone bad.
The unbelievably low price you were quoted for flooring services that others quoted you double just couldn’t be passed up, so you make the commitment to go cheap. The trouble is, the commitment from the amatuer installer is not the same. The job starts when the time is right for them, and continues longer than you expected. The quality of the job may be acceptable, but is everyone in the home in agreement that it is “just as beautiful as was imagined?”
Worse, if you want a friend or relative to make repairs or improvements, the relationship becomes a sensitive subject and you may end up swallowing your displeasure for the sake of keeping the peace. Now, what’s the price of feeling that way?
Reviews and Customer Testimony: The Proof Behind Good Flooring Services
Anyone can talk a good game. It may “feel” good to have a great conversation with a flooring installer who says all the right things. It may be a sign things are going your way. But slow down! Check references and customer reviews to verify if your impression was accurate. Today, Google stands as the benchmark for customer reviews.
Search a company name and if they have taken the time to establish a Google Business Profile account, they should appear on the right side of the resulting page. Check it out thoroughly and read the reviews of others who have purchased flooring services from that company. Go back months or even years to see if anything unusual pops up, like new ownership, or a review that led to a lawsuit (you can also check the Better Business Bureau).
Proformance Flooring is a seasoned flooring installer that brings customer service right to your door. We deliver flooring samples of the styles you desire into your home or business so you can see how they would look in the lighting that exists in the rooms you want to address. This makes much more sense than driving back and forth to multiple flooring stores, asking for samples, taking them home and then having to return them a few days later. There is no pressure to accept what we bring, either. The decision is completely yours.
